The "TKC" Computer Controlled Kaplan Turbine by EDIBON is a scaled-down Kaplan turbine featuring adjustable guide vanes in a ring configuration. These vanes enable precise control over the water flow entering the turbine. The system is equipped with a computer-controlled pump to drive the fluid through the turbine, where it transfers part of its energy, causing the turbine to rotate. This rotation is controlled and can be varied by an electromagnetic brake, which allows adjustments to the braking load for in-depth study of turbine performance under different conditions.
The unit includes several sensors to monitor critical parameters: a pressure sensor at the turbine inlet to measure water pressure, a flow sensor to track water flow into the turbine, an optical sensor to capture the turbine shaft speed, and additional pressure sensors on the pump inlet and outlet to help generate the pump's characteristic curve. The setup also features a tank and recirculating piping system to ensure constant use of the same fluid, conserving water.
Complete with EDIBON's SCADA-based Computer Control System, the TKC comes with a Control Interface Box, a Data Acquisition Board, and control, data acquisition, and data management software, allowing users to monitor and control the full turbine operation and analyze the data for each process parameter in detail.
